Qatar will always be free

And advance on Prophet’s guidance

Qatar is an epic of glory and dignity

Who protect us in time of distress,

Flag History

Adopted in 1949, the maroon coloring and proportions of this flag distinguish it from
the flag of Bahrain. The Qatar flag’s maroon color is said to have come about from the
action of the desert heat on the red vegetable dyes formerly used for their flags.
This color is now known as “Qatar maroon”.
