Flag History

Adopted in 1963, the Malaysian flag was based on the Stars and Stripes of the United
States of America. The blue canton represents the unity of the Malaysian people with
the yellow 14 pointed star and crescent of Islam. The 14 red and white stripes are
for the 14 states of the Federation.
