Flag History

Adopted in 1981, this Palau flag’s very simple design belies the depth and meaning
attributed to it. The blue stands for the freedom of self rule while the yellow full
moon is slightly set towards the hoist. The full moon is considered by the Palauans to
be the best time for celebrating and harvesting.
