South Korea National Anthem

South Korea flagSouth Korea National Anthem
The Song of Love for the Country/The Patriotic Song (Aegukga)

Until that day when
the waters of the Eastern Sea run dry
and Mt. Baekdu is worn away,
God protect and preserve our nation.

Three thousand Li
of splendid rivers and mountains,
filled with Roses of Sharon;
Great Korean people, stay true to the Great Korean way!

As the pine atop the near mountain stands firm,
unchanged through wind and frost,
as if wrapped in armour,
so shall our resilient spirit.

The Autumn sky is void and vast,
high and cloudless;
the bright moon is our heart,
undivided and true.

With this spirit and this mind,
give all loyalty,
in suffering or in joy,
to the love of country.

Flag History

Adopted in 1948, the South Korean flag starts out with a white field which is symbolic
of peace and is the traditional color of the Korean people. The red and blue Yin-yang
symbol signifies harmony and the union of opposites. Four different black geometric
designs have very distinctive representations. Three unbroken bars symbolize heaven,
while the three broken bars signify earth. Two different trigram designs represent water and fire.
